Introduction:

Vessavaṇa, also known as Kuvera or Jambhala, is a deity in Buddhist and Hindu traditions. In Buddhist mythology, Vessavaṇa is the king of the yakshas, a class of supernatural beings that are associated with wealth, prosperity, and abundance. Vessavaṇa is often depicted holding a mongoose or a small rodent, which is believed to be able to spit out valuable jewels. In some traditions, Vessavaṇa is also seen as a protector of the dharma, or Buddhist teachings. As a deity of wealth, Vessavaṇa is often invoked in prayers for financial prosperity and good fortune. In Hinduism, Vessavaṇa is also worshipped as a guardian of the north and is associated with the god Kubera.
