The power of knowledge and understanding

Introduction:

Mahasthamaprapta, is a bodhisattva in Mahayana Buddhism who represents the power of wisdom and spiritual advancement. According to tradition, they are one of the two main attendants of Amitabha Buddha and are often depicted in art and literature alongside the bodhisattva Avalokitesvara (Guanyin in Chinese). Mahasthamaprapta is revered as a symbol of spiritual strength and as a protector of the Buddhist faith. They are often depicted holding a sword or book, which are symbols of their wisdom and knowledge. In some traditions, Mahasthamaprapta is also seen as a protector of the Lotus Sutra, one of the most important scriptures in Mahayana Buddhism.
